While Todd’s away, Sami will play

When 92.7 MIX FM duo Todd and Sami were recently faced with the dilemma of finding a replacement for Todd, Sami thought of none other than Sunny Coast local Liam Renton.

With Todd requiring surgery for a 1989 BMX bike accident and needing a two-week recovery, he left one very stern rule for Liam to follow: “Whatever you do, don’t let Sami do any book reviews or talk about books.”

Well, Sami had other plans and took the break from her long-term radio buddy to exploit a long term NO GO zone on the show.

Both Sami and Liam love to read and jumped at the opportunity to line up their favourite authors to chat all things books. They formed the official Todd and Sami Book Club. Special guests like Mark Beretta, Larry Emdur and Francis Whiting all joined the guys to spruik their latest releases, much to the disgust of Todd, who was laid up in bed.

Liam was also unaware that real life wild animals drop buy the studio every week. “I’ve never seen an Iguana up close, so it was definitely a radio first for me.”

Liam says “I grew up on the Sunny Coast, went to school here and failed my driver’s licence test on Sunny Coast roads not once but twice, so it was just so nice and natural to be on the radio in my hometown.”

Todd has returned – in a moonboot  -and the book ban has been reinstated.

Sami says “It was fun while it lasted.”
