What’s the best way to axe a breakfast show ?
Last week, Sea FM's breakfast show on the Sunshine Coast, Brad & Sophie, finished their show and shortly afterwards it was announced they would both be "pursuing new ventures outside of the organisation." See more here.
The duo didn't get the opportunity to say goodbye to their listeners which led to some backlash on social media, like this post on Sea FM's Facebook page :-
So as a Programmer or General Manager; how have you gone, or would you go, about handling a situation where you're letting a Breakfast Show go?
We're interested not in your view on the particular situation at Sea FM but more broadly; what do you believe is the best way to axe a breakfast show ?
- tell them when they come off air that day and not allow them back on
- let them stay on the air after the news, to give them time to say goodbye to listeners
- it depends on the individuals
