Welcome return of Rugby League legend, Mark Geyer, to Triple M Sydney Breakfast
Penrith Panthers icon, Mark Geyer once known as the ‘King of the West’, will be returning to Triple M Sydney Breakfast in 2022.
Geyer will be joining the current 7am-9am breakfast team made up of Lawrence Mooney, Jess Eva and Chris Page.
The return of Geyer will parallel the much-anticipated return of sport commentary on Triple M Sydney Breakfast.
Mark Geyer left Triple M Sydney breakfast radio in 2017 to spend more time with his family.
In a statement to the Western Weekender in 2017, Geyer said,
“My daughter Rafferty was a baby when I started breakfast radio, she’s now 10 and I’ve never been able to drop her at school.”
The Rugby League star brings a wealth of NRL knowledge to the Triple M Breakfast team.
Geyer played 180 first grade games, winning the premiership with Penrith Panthers, and representing Australia with the Kangaroos in 1991
Most notably, Geyer threw down with Rugby League immortal Wally Lewis in the 1991 State of Origin show down.
Since hanging up his boots, MG has been a big part of Triple M Sydney, a regular panellist on the rugby league talk shows, and has also written extensively about rugby league for various newspapers and sporting magazines.
“I’m excited to be setting the alarm once again for Triple M Sydney breakfast, and I couldn’t think of a better team to be joining,” said Geyer.
“Lawrence keeps me laughing every morning. Jess is her own unique brand of hilarity and Pagey and I go way back. Bring on 2022!”
Triple M Sydney Content Director, Rex Morris, said: “We’re expecting MG’s involvement on ‘Moonman in the Morning’, to be an extension of what he already brings to the show on a weekly basis.”
“He’s famously connected to sport, and the ripping yarns around it. He lives and breathes our city’s west, curiously he manages to sing nearly every time he’s on the show and he loves a laugh.”
Listen to Geyer on Triple M Sydney Breakfast between 7am-9am in 2022.
