We are here for the long road

"Fairfax thriving, sticking with radio", Chief Executive Greg Hywood has said this afternoon as reported in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Greg was at a Melbourne Press Club event and confirmed Fairfax Media’s commitment concerning their radio assets.  He went on to say:

"We are getting it [radio] right. It won't happen overnight. We are here for the long road."

This follows the story earlier this week on RadioToday, Fairfax Radio Value Declines .

The line of “It doesn’t happen overnight” was also highlighted by 2UE General Manager Chris Parker when speaking to Michael Bodey in The Australian earlier in the week,

“We’ve got a very clear plan and will require some fine tuning, but it doesn’t happen overnight. We are continuing to invest in 2UE. It turns 90 next year and our plan is to get it to 100.”

This week 2UE launched a new marketing campaign which will include outdoor, bus and television advertising.

The company had previously held talks about a radio merger with Macquarie Radio Network.
