UAE Bound: Hit’s Elliott Lovejoy is heading to Radio 1

Staff Writer

Hit Gippsland breakfast announcer Elliott Lovejoy will depart his current role at SCA to take up a new breaky gig at Radio 1 in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m both humbled and thrilled to be heading over there,” Lovejoy told Radio Today. The Breakfast announcer rejoined the Hit Network in February 2016 alongside Amanda Angiolino to host Elliott & Mandy on Star FM.

Lovejoy will depart the show on 26 May and will begin his new position at the end of June.

The relaunched Radio 1 and Radio 2 began broadcasting to the UAE on April 3. Youth-targeted Radio 1, which is primarily aimed at 18-30 year-olds, features programs Fresh & First and drive, plus a breakfast show which Lovejoy will host.

Both stations are held by Abu Dhabi Media after changing hands from previous owner Gulf News in 2015. Since Radio 1 and 2’s reboot, Abu Dhabi Radio Network now has eight stations under its umbrella.

Lovejoy added: “It’s such an unreal opportunity not to mention I’m going to eat my way through the entire country.”
