Triple M puts the Gold back into the Gold Coast

Reporter

In a local nod to its heritage, Triple M on the Gold Coast has been officially renamed 92.5 Triple M Gold.

SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron says “Triple M launched four years ago on the Gold Coast as part of our roll out of the national Triple M Network, and now is the perfect time to add some Gold flavour back into the station again.”

“Gold Coast audiences loved the Gold brand, and we’re excited to see the evolution of this station with more of the Gold variety of music our local listeners know and love, alongside an acknowledgement of its heritage, while keeping it a part of the highly successful, national Triple M brand.”

Breakfast announcer Spida Everitt says “The gold is back where it belongs, right there in our name.”

“Every morning Ali, Flan and I broadcast straight out of Broadie to Bundall and Benowa, Coolangatta and Coomera, up the mountains to the green behind our beloved gold at Tamborine and all in between, and we love it. We love the Gold Coast, we’re passionate about its people and places and now we can all celebrate that the gold is back!”

Another backflip. This should have never been changed in the first place. For those who live on the GC Triple M is a Brisbane station and doesn’t represent local radio. What a debacle.

That will make it far easier to transition to Gold when the sale goes through

Why not bring back KOFM in Newcastle. The 7th largest market in Australia.

And conveniently avoid confusion with Triple M in Brisbane. Otherwise, how would a casual listener (who may be filling out a survey diary) know which one they were listening to?

Triple M in Gosford next?

The renaming (multiple times) of this heritage station has been a mess and only serves to confuse the market.

Rebranding to Triple M sounded stupid for a station that had zero resemblance to that brand.

Why not just name it back to Gold 92.5 and leave it alone.

In the fair dinkum department, how many names does this station want??
It originally was 4GGG, then K-ROQ, then Gold FM, then MMM, now this.
STOP CHANGING THE BLOODY NAME.

I am a loyal Triple M FM104.9 listener here in Sydney…but seriously now…do SCA management really believe altering this station’s on-air branding to something resembling what it use to be called is going to lure audiences away from Hot Tomato FM ? Either change the name back to GOLD 92.5, or don’t bother. Otherwise you are insulting your listeners intelligence.

Maybe do the same for the regional am stations, like 864 4gr

Time to bring the heritage brands back to other regional Triple M’s.
4TO and 4GR in particular. It was always ridiculous to have and AM station like 4GR re-branded to Triple M. The locals hate it. SCA is clueless.
