Triple M’s Lu & Al give AC/DC superfan the surprise of a lifetime after tragic accident
Lu & Al, Triple M Breakfast hosts on The Border105.7 in Albury-Wodonga, have driven home the importance of local radio, delivering a heartfelt surprise to a much-loved local listener by gifting him tickets to see his all-time favourite band AC/DC, following a life-changing accident.
Pete from Rutherglen is well-known to audiences across The Border region as Triple M’s resident rock superfan, especially when it comes to AC/DC.
With more than 20 AC/DC tattoos, Pete’s passion for the band has been a regular topic with Triple M over the years.
In May this year, Pete was struck by a car after crossing the Hume Highway and airlifted to Melbourne with life-threatening injuries.
He later underwent a partial leg amputation and is now undergoing intensive rehabilitation.
After learning about the accident from one of Pete’s mates, Lu & Al shared his story on-air across the week, capping it off by surprising Pete with tickets to see AC/DC live.

When Lu & Al called Pete to give him the good news and lift his spirits in recovery, it was a moment of pure connection and a reminder of the importance of local radio.
Al: “We know from previous conversations how much you love AC/DC… your friends and family attest that they can’t have a conversation with you without you mentioning your love of AC/DC. So,, Pete, we’ve organised a couple of tickets for you to go see AC/DC!”
Pete: “Oh, I don’t know what to say. Thank you so much to everyone at Triple M and Lu and Al. Boo, wee, boo, boo, yeah!”
Al: “We just wanted to remind you how cared for you are in The Border region. We love having you on the show. We can’t wait for you to come back and be a part of the show. It’s a hell of a thing you’ve gone through, and we thought if we could grab your tickets, it’s a little thing we can do to give you something to look forward to in your path to recovery.”
