Triple M shows promising debut: Dubbo Survey 1, 2022

The Dubbo Survey 1, 2022 results have been released today, showing a fiery head-to-head between ZooFM and Triple M Dubbo in the first survey since 2019.

10+ Snapshot:

  • 22.2 – ZooFM (+4.9)
  • 20.1 – Triple M Dubbo (+20.1)
  • 14.2 – 2DU (-8.0)

ZooFM has the top of the pyramid, but it could only be for now, as Triple M Dubbo debuts in the region with a commanding start in all age demographics between 10-64.

Seeing gains in all 10+ age demographics, ZooFM’s biggest spike was seen in the 10-17 demographic with +14.1.

2DU has shown losses in all age demographics, but particularly bad losses show in the 40-54 (-9.9), 55-64 (-13.7) and 65+ (-11.6).

triple j reported a gain of 4.2 in the 10+ as a result of gains across all demos, but most notably a +9.1 growth in the 25-39 demographic.

ZooFM may be worried, as Triple M takes four time slots, including morning, afternoon, drive and evening.

2DU has lost considerabley in all time slots, while Zoo has grown, but not enough to hold back Triple M.

You guys really need to get your heads out of sca’s arse!

The first time ZooFM goes number 1 and that’s not the headline??? C’mon!

Zoo went UP 4.9!

Hit/MMM went DOWN 3.8 points!

Anyone who knows anything about radio ratings would say the momentum looks to be with Zoo. So why would they be worried???

Credit where credit is due!

This article is disgracefully biased and you guys are quickly become an industry joke!

We stand by our headline and our reporting that a new station brand with a format that’s newly introduced into any market, with such a big cume on debut, is newsworthy – as is getting so close to the market leader first time up.

From the beginning of the article, we clearly identify ZooFM as the market leader in a tight race with Triple M, which is fact.

BTW: I note that Triple M sent us their summary of the survey, which one would expect to be biased. May I suggest that for the next survey, you take it upon yourself to send us ZooFM’s summary (we can’t write it for you) and we’ll be pleased to post it as well. That would be the most productive way to address any perceived bias. Peter Saxon, Managing Editor.

It’s not a brand new station, it’s an SCA rebrand. The only change is the sticker and networking fader. A brand new station was a Nova or Smooth launch. This station didn’t just turn on and didn’t start at zero. So stop kidding yourself!

It was the “market lead” last time, so it’s lost ground.

Geez this article is certainly biased to Triple M and SCA…
Doesn’t matter it is a new station, this survey shows that the new format has lost audience since the flip from the “Hit” format and it appears that they have gone to Triple J and Zoo FM.

Oh for goodness sake. What is Carillas doing. 2DU has been nealy anailated not only in Dubbo but also 4GY Gympie and 2HD in Newcastle, from where half the crap originates. Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Orange no listeners yet he accepts $3.5 Million from the gorvernment to promote regional news services. Mr Frugal.

“a new station brand with a format that’s newly introduced into any market, with such a big cume on debut, is newsworthy”

As is the fact that said station is down 3.8% on the station it replaced (Hit).

Pity the Triple M results weren’t compared to the previous Hit FM / Star FM from which they basically swapped the programming on. It’s not like Triple M started from scratch which the charts imply.

Significant drop for Triple M during the morning when we are forced to have the two hours of boring talkback instead of awesome music all day. At my work we switch from Triple to (Community) DCFM for the mornings.

Wait – no DCFM in the ratings? Shame.
