Tracey celebrates ten years on Hitz 939 Bundaberg Breakfast

The champagne corks are popping at Hitz 939 in Bundaberg, with Tracey Sergiacomi today celebrating ten years on the breakfast show.

Those who know Tracey describe her as an amazing human, with a massive smile on her face every morning, always pitching in to help the local community.

Tracey tells Bundaberg Now she first got behind the microphone almost by accident.

“I started work at Bundaberg Broadcasters 13 years ago as the receptionist. I was then asked to do an on air week gossip segment, where I was called Lady Blah Blah.”

Following that, the Program Director called her into his office and asked if she’d like a shot at breakfast radio.

Tracey says she jumped at the chance, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“I never went to radio school and didn’t think I was that good on air but, for some reason, 10 years later I am still here.”

“I do have a great job, sitting in a studio, hanging with Matty (Matthew Ambrose) and listening to music. What’s not to like?”

Tracey says while she never had ambitions to be a radio announcer, now she can’t imagine not being on air.

Tracey’s highlights over the journey include Dragon Boat racing with Samuel Johnson, meeting the Maroons when they came to Bundy after the 2013 floods and being the ground announcer for a Cowboys-Broncos match in 2016 at Salter Oval.

She admits with every year, the early starts get a little bit harder, but she wouldn’t swap it.

“Thank you to everyone who invites me into their lives each day. I hope I continue to keep them entertained and informed on all things that happen in our beautiful city.”
