Tim Webster takes over 2CH Breakfast

Staff Writer

Sydney’s Classic Hits 2CH has announced a new on-air presenter lineup for 2020, with a new Breakfast host leading the changes.

Tim Webster is set to host the station’s new Breakfast show, replacing Trevor Sinclair and Indira Naidoo in the slot.

2CH general manager Cherie Romaro said Webster was an easy choice.

“I am very pleased to announce that Tim Webster will host Breakfast from Monday January 13th from 5am to 9am,” she said.  “Tim was the logical choice, respected by his peers, and loved by audience’s across Sydney.

“He is the ultimate broadcast professional and will deliver a class breakfast program charged with up to date information, News, Traffic and Weather every 15 minutes, then add in Tim’s distinct ‘take’ on the issues of the day, his passion for playing Classic Hits from the 60’s and 70’s and you have a recipe for a show that will appeal to Sydney’s 50 + audience.”

Webster has been at the station since 2019 when he replaced Bob Rogers on Mornings, a slot he will continue in this year.

“Having the honour of filling Bob’s shoes is not something I want to give up and will relish doing the daily double.

“I am also looking forward to the challenge of Breakfast as it is such a competitive timeslot, besides that …I am usually up that early walking my dog.”

Kayley Harris is the new executive producer of the 2CH Breakfast show. She’ll also be heard on-air on Weekends

Trevor Sinclair will remain with 2CH, presenting Afternoon Drive.

Meanwhile Chris Kearns returns with Tonight Live, back from Monday, January 13 at 7pm.

Surely he will have to VT some of the shift after 9? otherwise it would be a marathon shift 5 days a week

I for one will miss Tim Webster’s marathon program each day. I really think that Tim for brekkie won’t be the right slot for his magnificent type of presentation and voice.
I hope you still have Nick Bennett on weekend afternoons.
Mardi Cole needs a permanent spot, she has the most melodious female voice in Australia.
Good wishes for 2020

Where is Ian Rogerson, he has been left out of the mix?……not sure about Tim for breakfast and the morning slot as well……better having no announcer for mornings and afternoon, just play the music.

Why it was ever necessary for Trevor Sinclair to be teamed up with Indira Naidoo with limited appearances by Dave Gibson still has me scratching my head. Trevor Sinclair should have been given a chance of going it alone for the breakfast shift. To top it off 2CH had the coldest sounding traffic reporter Mardi Cole. So the whole show was like waking to a breakfast meal of cold bacon & eggs, not appealing. Hopefully the new breakfast show will have a new traffic reporter, someone like Tim Govers & none of those too-clever-for-words terms like “weathercast”, which lacked boating/fishing information that previously was included.

Sorry to see Trevor and Indra will not be back I have grown use to their banter since switching 2ch on my Radio.
Tim Webster is a great presenter but the marathon shift will be to much and may hust be to much Tim and listeners will tune out in time. Bad move from radio management.

Good to hear Tim back – If it comes to a choice hope he maintains his 9-3 spot – Enjoy that program so much but rarely get the opportunity to hear much of breakfast

Where is Ian “Dano” Roberson in the new lineup on 2CH? He did a great job on drive tome and we want him back Kearns just doesn’t cut it… too straight and stiff… Bring Ian Roberson back he’s a natural radio talent!!!

I miss Indira and Trevor. They were good together. Very sorry to see Indira go.
Of course I’ll still listen to Tim in the morning but his eh! during his daily slot was a bit grating.

Don’t understand why all the changes, you got rid of Johnny Young heavens knows why and Mardi Cole with the 9 O’clock special that was wonderful, then you change Tim, Trevor Chris and where’s Ian. I don’t see the logic in this my pet hate is changing things. But I must say I love Kayley Harris so happy she has surfaced since 2WS days.

Why does Tim go on and on about the Beatles. Today heard Fran Sinatra twice.
Would like to hear some of Classic Elvis from the 70s.
The afternoon program is more balanced, with a good variety.

Webster. T
How wrong I was about Tim for breakfast and mid-morning shift.
Tim fits breakfast and mornings like a glove. Tim plays incomparable music with back stories, relevant comments, and very humorous observations are to be heard every weekday.
We the listeners, are the winners!
*He does have the smoothest voice on radio.
Thanks Tim & 2CH

I have been a 2CH listener since it started Lite n Easy almost 50 years ago. During that time I have looked elsewhere on two occasions due to changing format and I now find it necessary to look further afield with almost no news. The current news is almost non existent, brief in the daytime and non existent in the evenings and weekends.

Omg 2ch you have done it again , why all the changes, where’s Kayley, Ian ? you got rid of Johnny Young, Kel Richards, Mardi Cole (9 O’clock special AND Gareth surely when something is going great leave it as is, you never mention where or why these presenters are gone. I must say all the Hype changing to DAB for me isn’t as good as I expected with all the changes. Where’s Trevors FB page?
