The KIIS Network encourages important conversations for R U OK? Day

The KIIS Network is doing its part for R U OK? Day this year, encouraging listeners and staff to check in on loved ones as well as reflect on personal mental health.

The national day of action takes place on Thursday, 14 September, reminding Australians to start a meaningful conversation and ask anyone who may be struggling, ‘Are you ok?’

The partnership with KIIS is being led by known mental health advocates Will & Woody.

The pair will welcome Olympic boxer Harry Garside on Wednesday, where he will share his own mental health journey in the lead-up to R U Ok? Day.

Then, on the official R U OK? Day, Will & Woody will host a lunchtime special across the KIIS Network from 1 – 2 pm, reminding listeners of the importance of having potentially life-saving conversations.

Throughout the day, all KIIS stations will go silent for 10 seconds every hour, encouraging listeners to start a conversation with a friend, work colleague or family member and ask, ‘R U OK?’

To encourage strong mental health and important conversations among staff, Head of News and Information Fiona Ellis-Jones will host an ‘In Conversation’ session for all staff at ARN on R U OK? Day.

As part of the session, iHeart Trivia hosts Yumi Stynes and Osher Günsberg will share their thoughts on and experiences of mental illness, addiction, resilience and living well – allowing staff the opportunity to reflect.

The KIIS Network’s support of R U OK? Day will be heard on KIIS 1065KIIS 101.1KIIS 97.3 and Mix102.3 throughout Wednesday 13 September and Thursday 14 September.
