The Hit Network’s Dan & Christie embark on heartfelt tour for Ronald McDonald House Charities
In the lead-up to McHappy Day tomorrow (Saturday, 16 November), The Hit Network’s Dan & Christie have been on a mission with their House-to-House Tour, covering more than 1,500 kilometres to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
This initiative raises awareness and funds as Dan & Christie broadcast live from McDonald’s locations across Tasmania and regional Victoria, connecting with communities and hearing heartfelt stories from across the country.
The tour began with a visit to Ronald McDonald House in Hobart, where Dan and Christie cooked meals for the families staying at the House. Before finishing their tour at the Ronald McDonald House in Melbourne, their stops include Mildura, Bendigo, Shepparton and Wodonga.
Each stop has highlighted RMHC’s mission to provide accommodation and support to families with sick children in hospitals, with the charity serving around 64,000 Australian families annually.
During their travels, Dan & Christie have heard powerful stories highlighting the importance of RMHC.
One of the most moving stories came from Brie from Wodonga, a mother who shared the recent loss of her daughter Frankie Mae, who was born at just 23 weeks. Brie’s story brought Christie Hayes to tears on air as Brie expressed her gratitude for RMHC’s support during Frankie’s four-and-a-half-month stay in Melbourne. Brie’s story has served as a reminder of the profound impact RMHC has on families in their most challenging times.
Additionally, the duo spoke with RMHC Support Coordinator Rhianna Peters, who shared insights into how RMHC alleviates stress for families: “If we can take the stress away, even just a little bit … it makes our house a home for those families.”
