The Hills are alive with the sound of football on SEN

Reporter

Just hours out from tonight’s FIFA World Cup opener between the Matildas and Ireland in Sydney, it’s all hands on deck at SEN.

The sports radio network will broadcast every game live over the four weeks of competition on home soil.

Simon Hill (pictured above) is among the SEN football experts who’ll be guiding listeners through every moment, and he can’t wait to get stuck in.

Hill tells Radio Today “This is now firmly established as one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.”

“It’s a pity that the hype in Australia has been slow to build, but it now seems to be in full swing, with the Matildas quietly fancied to do well, and possibly even win it.”

As for the other contenders, Hill says it’s a fairly open field, with the Americans, Germany, France, Spain, England and Canada – the reigning Olympic champions – all in the mix.

“There’s no doubt it will be a brilliant tournament, and that fans will enjoy having such a big festival right on their doorstep,” says Hill.

Football enthusiasts can also catch all 64 matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup via the DAB+ channel, SEN Fanatic and the SEN App.

The round ball code’s not the only source of excitement at SEN, as we head towards the pointy end of the AFL season, where another Hill has been front and centre in the commentary box.

Australia’s leading race caller Matt Hill (no relation, pictured above) joined the AFL Nation broadcast team in 2021.

From the Melbourne Cup to short track speed skating and every sport in between, Matt has carved a reputation as one of the most versatile callers in the business.
