The Christian O’Connell Show launches fundraiser for kids in need
This morning on Gold 104.3’s The Christian O’Connell Show, the team launched a fundraiser for Backpacks 4 VIC Kids.
As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, the charity has been struggling to raise much-needed funds to continue providing crisis packs and gift packs to vulnerable young people.
The Christian O’Connell Show is a long-time supporter of Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, raising over $500,000 across several campaigns.
The team will be prompting listeners to donate throughout the week – with no amount too small.
The team set an initial goal of $40,000 – and already, they’re past the halfway mark.
You can see the fundraiser page here, which already is filled with messages from donors including small business and listeners with not much disposable income to their name.
Christian said “There are children in our community who desperately need our help.”
“Over 10,000 children here in Victoria who’ve been removed from unsafe homes for their protection, will go without even the basics.”
“When these vulnerable children are taken into care – often with nothing but the clothes on their backs – an amazing charity we support, Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, steps in with something precious: dignity. They provide each child with a backpack filled with essential items like toiletries, clothing, comfort items, and age-appropriate toys. It’s often the first thing these frightened children can truly call their own.
“I’m grateful to have this platform with our show, and we’re doing everything we can to raise funds for as many children as possible. I’m asking you again to please help, and I mean help these children.
“If you can donate, please leave your name so I can thank you personally on air – whether it’s $5 or $500. If you prefer to stay anonymous, that’s perfectly fine, and I’m grateful for your support either way.”
“Whatever you can give will help keep this lifeline running and bring some joy to a child who deserves to feel valued.”
