The Christian O’Connell Show hosts live wedding

The Christian O’Connell Show planned and hosted a wedding for two listeners in less than 72 hours after the billboard promotion lead to a Valentine’s Day extension, giving one lucky couple the chance to host their wedding live on air.

The Gold 104.3 team, with the help of listeners, organised a cellist, an opera singer, a love swing and a giant cake for couple Aaron and Laura in less than three days.

The pair had been together for ten years and engaged for nine of those years, but were never married due to their lack of time with having three kids.

The wedding took place live on air this morning, where the couple exchanged their vows and Melbournians all over the city witnessed the official tying of the knot.

“We turned this hum-drum meeting room into a chapel of love,” Christian said.

The wedding turned out to be everything but uneventful. The community came together within 72 hours to offer their services for the pop-up wedding and the ringbearer was a black cockatoo that flew down the aisle.

“There were points where we thought it’s gotten out of control, but yeah, just enjoyed the ride,” said groom Aaron.
