The Chaser’s Craig Reucassel joins Hit Coffs Coast for waste challenge

Hit Coffs Coast‘s Breakfast team embarked on a waste challenge to see if they could keep track of all their rubbish for a whole week.

A.B & Ben are carrying around a hessian sack each for the week for the #RubbishRivalry challenge.

Radio Chaser‘s Craig Reucassel, who also hosts ABC TV show War On Waste, joined the pair to chat about the challenge and the 2,000 kgs of waste each Australian throws away each year.

“What is the easiest thing to change about people’s behaviour when it comes to rubbish production?” asked Ben.

“Your idea is a great one. If everyone had to carry around their rubbish, it would really make them rethink their single-use items,” responded Craig.

A.B asked whether it was an education problem. “One of the things that’s really frustrating is that every council has a different waste provider with different rules.

“Even when we did the show it was hard!”
