SYN stars help raise money

Staff Writer

Melbourne's SYN Media have raised $19,500 with their 'Pay for your SYN's' campaign. This money will go along with $75,000 already raised through the support of the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust and the ANZ Trustees. All money raised will help upgrade their studios and build a third.

Many veterans of SYN have gone onto bigger things and have spoken about the broadcaster….

triple j's Zane Rowe

''The impact it has on triple j and other broadcasters is incredible. I'd never entertained the idea of doing radio and just fell into it. It felt very natural and enjoyable from the get-go.''

Mornings with Jon Faine ABC 774 producer Dan Ziffer

''SYN is an opportunity, and they get thousands of people through every year, and what they're teaching them is not just how to put on a radio show, but how to be consumers of media and how to navigate the very different media world they find themselves in."

Leon Sjogren, now producer of Fifi and Jules

''SYN's the spark that lit the fire for my career; it gave me a hands-on approach and I learnt stuff you can't learn anywhere else"

SYN's most famous veterans, Hamish and Andy also chipped in $1000 to the campaign.

''If you stick with SYN, you're eventually going to get a good broadcaster…..We were the misfires but someone good will come out of SYN … have faith," says Hamish.
