From workouts to Workdays

Former personal trainer Amelia Juniper-Grey recently started her new role as a Copywriter and Workday Announcer at Tamworth’s 92.9FM.

She says the new role is “a nice chance to actually talk to people for a living rather than yelling at them!”

Inspired by the likes of Hit’s Carrie & TommyHughesy, Ed & Erin and Jimmy & Nath, Amelia knew she wanted to get into radio as soon as she got her first car, so she set the wheels in motion.

“Ever since getting my driver’s licence, I have absolutely fallen in love with radio,” Amelia said.

“I would look forward to my morning commutes to work so I could listen to Ryan & Tanya who were the breakfast team on Hit104.7 in Canberra at the time.”

With her goals in mind, Amelia started building her radio skills with the Australian Radio School and Canberra’s oldest community radio station, 2XX.

“The online course I completed with Sean at the Australian Radio School is an absolute must for anyone interested in a career in radio, but also anyone looking to create content and tell stories that connect with an audience in any capacity,” Amelia said.

“It pushed me, but was so interesting and valuable. I loved every second!”

“My training at 2XX was fabulous too. My teacher Becca is a powerhouse and I feel so lucky to have learnt from her. I got to learn all aspects of radio actually in a studio including the more technical side like panelling.”

“I think the combination of the two courses together worked really well as I got to apply all that I’d learnt with the Australian Radio School in the studio with 2XX, and then learn even more!”

Now that she’s hands-on for Workdays in Tamworth, Amelia says she’s “having the best time!”

“The team at 92.9 has been so supportive and welcoming,” she said.

“They have been willing to let me try new things and throw me in the deep end right from day one.”

“I’m lucky enough to be able to do 1 or 2 breaks with our brekkie announcer JB each morning and it’s the absolute highlight of my day! I’m so lucky to be getting that experience on top of my own workday shift.”

“It’s amazing how much I’ve learnt already and I can’t wait to get feedback and continue to improve.”

In the future, Amelia sees herself as part of a team with their own fun and energetic show, but in the meantime, she’s refining her solo skills and enjoying the country life.

Hear Amelia present Workdays on Tamworth’s 92.9FM between 9am-1pm.

Congratulations to her!
This is great to see….Someone actually go to school and learn the craft…then get a gig in smaller market on a super radio network station… Rather then just…Gifted a show on a hit network station because they either were on the Bachelor, a small yime athlete or make tik toks! Looks like she’s actually worked hard to.get the position. Well earned.
