Steve Price replaces Ray Hadley on Triple M
Steve Price is gearing up to be back on the airwaves, with his program being picked up by Triple M in the regions.
Regionally, Triple M had previously played Nine Radio’s Ray Hadley Morning Show, however it recently announced that syndication would be stopping at the end of this month.
Since then, it has been widely predicted that Price would fill the void.
Price left his radio slot at 2GB back in 2019 and was replaced by Deb Knight.
He’s since returned to audio broadcasting with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) via its LiSTNR app. His daily program, Australia Today, is currently streamed live on the digital LiSTNR platform from 7am to 11am (AEST).
Now, in a dual broadcast strategy, it will also go out on Triple M in Coffs Harbour, Griffith, Orange, Port Macquarie, Wagga, Dubbo, Mount Gambier, Toowoomba and Maryborough from 9am to 11am.
SCA’s recently installed head of regional content, Blair Woodcock, said he is thrilled to offer the program to regional Triple M listeners.
“Steve is one of the country’s finest broadcasters who is passionate about Australians living outside of the big capital cities and advocates for amplifying their voices and concerns. Australia Today with Steve Price will be an audio first with a dual broadcasting strategy across the LiSTNR app and our FM stations that we are excited to be launching,” he said.
Price, meanwhile, said he was excited to be inheriting the shift and taking his program into the regions.
“We launched Australia Today a couple of months ago and I have been thrilled with the response and am enjoying connecting with listeners across the country and sharing and debating views,” he said.
SCA said the program will continue to have content which is relevant to the whole country.
You haven’t mentioned that Australia Today has its own DAB+ channel in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Hobart.
The Code
Literally every radio show is available on radio and on an app. Hit, MMM, KIIS, GOLD, ABC, NOVA. All of them here in Australia and around the world.
But SCA claims another “Audio First” with their “Dual Broadcast Strategy”
What are SCA talking about?
Great news, 2GB is falling apart. You know you are in trouble when you replace a great broadcaster with a failed TV News reader
Bring Steve Price back to 2GB Sydney.
Ray Hadley is a has been.
Bring Steve back in a daily program
Once again SCA shows complete disregard for the regional communities. Here in Port Macquarie they destroyed our local 2MC FM with their MMM garbage and now they again dictate what we have to listen to without any consultation. Pretty soon we won’t turn them on full stop.
Who remembers Charles Woodley’s show …under the old Mac Regional Radio…it struggled to get guests, struggled to get listeners ..
I have a feeling this could go much the same way.
Triple m has lost me now
morning radio will never be the same there will be no other voice like ray hadley he has been the heart, soul and voice for so many australians so after the end of the month when ray leaves i will not be tuning into the station anymore
I do hope that my radio 4Hi still broadcasts ray and yes we are an am channel. Emerald QLD
Steve wont need to worry about the ratings in the bush hence the gig.
“SCA said the program will continue to have content which is relevant to the whole country”
So we can probably expect this show is rolling out further in time to cone.
Hi Michael, I actually challenge anyone who genuinely thinks a radio brand means the world to listeners. Guess what, probably doesn’t… more often than not, people refer to stations by the frequency or the shows on it. Anyone who does the whole “you changed the branding, I’m never listening again:” or “you changed the shows I’m never listening” tend to come back or even don’t stop listening, once you form a new relationship with the change – I guess you decide your life mood won’t be dictated by a radio station changing something. If it does, get a hobby.
Only a handful of Triple M’s regionally aren’t doing well, changing the branding has hardly affected anything.
Just play music. The hot tip is you’ll get more listeners, it’s cost effective & it’s on brand unlike the dribble that’s about to be broadcast
Steve Price and Ray Hadley on Triple M?
Rod Muir must be rolling on his yacht.
As “littlegezzybear” remarked that “Australia Today” has been on air as a DAB+ channel named “Australia Today” since the start of the “Australia Today” podcast via the Listnr app, https://www.southerncrossaustereo.com.au/media/media-releases/australia-today-with-steve-price-a-new-way-for-the-nation-to-talk-debuts-live-on-listnr-next-week/ .
The show is broadcast on a continuous basis throughout the day. On weekends, the Friday show is broadcast on a continuous loop till the first Monday edition.
Since each edition is broadcast on a continuous basis, it loses news currency outside the live broadcast time, especially during the weekends.
Thus it is impossible to cut into breaking news and sports.
To maintain currency of news, the “Australia Today” channel would need more presenters and reporters to cover the stories throughout the day.
Is “Australia Today” the start of SCA entering the talk radio market to compete with 2GB, 2SM and its regional networks?
The implication of expanding into talk radio is that talk radio is labour-intensive and costly.
Thank you,
Anthony of exciting Belfield
He is just as bad as Hadley! I have not posted this comment before. Maybe you don’t like the truth!
He is a right wing ratbag!
Can you listen to Australia Today on Google Home?
Steve Price is as interesting as watching paint dry. An endorsement by Philip Adams is as good as the kiss of death. Bring back Hadley, before you lose all your listeners.
Maybe many of us older people remember a thing call the THE THALIDOMIDE TRAGEDY.
Australia Today with Steve Price is no more, it will not return in the new year on Triple M Regionally & Nationally on the LiSTNR App.
On Triple M In Toowoomba, Wagga Wagga & Griffith Ray Hadley will return in the 9 til Midday slot from January (9-11am in Toowoomba until Daylight Savings finishes)
Meanwhile on Triple M In Other Markets (Maryborough/Fraser Coast, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Orange, Dubbo & Mt Gambier) Music programming will air in the timeslot.
