Star 104.5’s Julie Goodwin charged with drink driving

Former Masterchef winner and now one-half of the Star 104.5 Gosford Breakfast team Julie Goodwin has been charged with drink driving.

Goodwin allegedly attempted to avoid an RBT on Thursday in North Gosford around by performing a U-Turn further up the road.

As Fairfax reports, Goodwin’s car was found nearby shortly afterwards, upon which time police took her back to the local station and she returned a blood alcohol reading of .107.

Speaking on Star 104.5 this morning after her Breakfast show with co-host Rabbit, she broke down as she expressed her regret for what had transpired.

“I’m struggling to come up with language strong enough to express how badly I behaved, I made terrible decisions,” she said.

“I’m so grateful that no one was hurt… I totally agree with all the comments expressing anger and disgust. I intend to face court, I don’t want any preferential treatment… whatever is dealt to me I’ll take it.

“I have no excuse, I’m so ashamed of myself. I am deeply, deeply sorry.”

Goodwin released a public statement on Facebook on Friday evening, where she admitted having failed a breath test, expressed her regret and apologised to her family and colleagues.

“I want to take the opportunity to offer a heartfelt and unreserved apology to my family, my colleagues, and to the broader community. I would also like to apologise to everyone that has supported me over many years, I have let you all down.

“I am devastated that I have acted in a way so contrary to what I believe, to how I usually conduct myself, and to what I have taught my children. Many lessons will flow from this, and I will learn from each of them.”
