Shhhh… ‘Coming back better than ever’ says Kyle

“Don’t tell anyone, but I’m working on a new project,” Kyle Sandilands told his fans on Instagram. “All will be revealed soon…”

In a face to camera direct message to his fans, Kyle turns in his chair and says:

“Ooh, g’day on the fan page. What a surprise that I’ve even got fans left.

“Guys, thank you for your support. I’ve read all of it… let me tell you a little secret.

“Don’t tell anyone, but I’m working on a new project and all will be revealed soon. Thank you for your prayers.

“Coming back, guys. Bigger than ever hopefully!

“Actually, not fatter… my missus has got me on a diet. This morning, I ate 10 grapes for breakfast. Like, what the fuck. Oh, and 2 boiled eggs. Then there was that 4 pack of Twirl I stopped to get at the BP… I drank half a tin of Coca Cola.”

After a little banter with his manager, Kyle leaves his seat to give Bruno a hug, revealing a sign reflected in the studio window glass. It says ‘Kyle Sandilands Live.’

I wonder if he has thought about the sales component of this to actually make money

Kyle has watched Joe Rogan rake in the cash, doing podcasts on Spotify and YouTube and believes that he can emulate, at least part of, the same success here. Karl S’ recent foray into podcasting was also relatively successful.

A single or multi-platform podcast, would be the logical move for Kyle. Traditional broadcast platforms are just too stifling for Kyle’s brand of content. I think he may do quite well targetting the fast growing Right of extreme Left demographic in Australia, and possibly elsewhere too.

Wherever Kyle ends up will be a massive hit… at first. Unfortunately thereafter, Kyle is going to struggle. As Jack and Jason already said, no station will want to risk their money on him given the way this KIIS fallout has played out. No (significant) advertiser will support him given the allegations of bullying. And the average fan would not be able to afford to subscribe to his show due to cost of living, inflation and other costs for subscriptions (like Netflix, Spotify, etc.) Kyle needs a big station behind him to stay relevant but no one will touch him.

I personally wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle Sandilands’ latest project falls into obscurity after some initial launch publicity…especially if this is something people have to pay to listen to/watch.

Afterall, even Alan Jones (who also had hundreds of thousands of Sydney radio listeners for an extended period of time) didn’t receive a particularly significant audience for his most recent pre-allegations media venture with that online show or whatever it was for ADH-TV!
