Scott Muller returns to SCA in newly created head of content insights role

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has appointed longtime radio executive Scott Muller to the newly created position of head of content insights.

Muller has an extensive background in both local and international radio, having been the inaugural program director at Nova 96.9 in Sydney. He’s also held roles within Austereo and then SCA, as content director of 92.9 in Perth and program director of Triple M Sydney.

Upon his return to SCA, the company said he will be responsible for executing its content insight strategy.

He will also work closely with SCA’s research team, SCA iQ, to distill data and research into meaningful insights, SCA said, with the goal of informing key content decisions across the Hit and Triple M Networks as well as LiSTNR.

SCA’s chief content officer, Dave Cameron, highlighted Muller’s extensive broadcasting experience as he welcomed him to the new role.

“Scott’s deep knowledge and experience across the broadcast industry both domestically and globally, combined with his analytical expertise in content creation and audience behaviours across both linear and digital audio, will bring rich critical thinking to SCA’s ongoing digital audio transformation,” Cameron said.

Muller, meanwhile, said that he was looking forward to driving SCA’s content strategy as the company continues to embrace new digital audio mediums.

“The transformation of SCA into a digital audio-led business and the recent launch of LiSTNR makes it an incredibly exciting time to join SCA,” Muller said.

“I bring a deep understanding of radio and audio content and combining that with the rich audience insights from SCA iQ will help deliver world-class, innovative content choices for listeners and I’m looking forward to working with the team in the new role.”

Muller will report to SCA’s head of corporate strategy and major projects, David Prime. He starts his new role on Monday, July 26.

SCA love creating new roles. Remember when they had a Head Of Pyrotecnics Programming who oversaw Skyshows? In essence General Manager of Cracker Night.

Forever grateful that SM picked up my demo tape in 1995 and helped secure my first gig at SAFM. One of the great radio “brains” that I’m sure will help SCA bounce back. Is a true gentleman, a true lover of radio and will be an asset to the network. All the best Scott!
