SCA’s Hubble joins with AFTRS for new radio broadcast internship

Southern Cross Austereo has strengthened its commitment to emerging talent and has joined forces with AFTRS; the national screen and broadcast school to offer an internship for up-and-coming broadcasters.

It’s announced ‘The Hubble Talent Academy’ Graduation Internship Award, which will support one graduate of the AFTRS Graduate Diploma in Radio Course. They’ll be given six weeks of full time and paid employment at a regional station.

The internship award has been confirmed for an initial three years and is open to on-air and off-air radio and podcasting roles and will give the recipient the opportunity of ‘real-world’ experience with an SCA station or affiliate.

Head of Radio at AFTRS, Fyona Smith says it’s a great opportunity for their graduates.

“This internship with Australia’s leading commercial broadcast network is a fantastic opportunity. AFTRS is thrilled to be working with Southern Cross Austereo to offer one of our students such an important career break.”

Head of Talent Development at SCA, Adrian Brine, says “We are thrilled to open up this development opportunity through Hubble. The calibre of AFTRS radio graduates is the best in the country and this internship should provide a mutual learning experience that will no doubt benefit both parties.”

Applications are open now for current students of the 2019 Graduate Diploma in Radio and the winner will be announced in October.
