SCA announces Triple M Bundaberg launch
Southern Cross Austereo has announced that Bundaberg’s 93.1 SEA FM will be rebranded has 93.1 Triple M.
The station has been on the air for 18 years, and will now join Australia’s second biggest radio network.
There are now 35 Triple M stations across Australian metro and regional networks, as well as four digital Triple M stations.
“We are really excited about the changes that lay ahead and look forward to providing the community with something different, whilst maintaining a strong connection to our local market,” said SCA general manager for Bundaberg Nicholas Purdie.
Bundy’s rebranded SCA station will broadcast Triple M’s new national Drive show Kennedy Molloy, as well as Triple M Footy, and a range of other national and international promotions and competitions.
“In a nutshell, we will still be the same local station but now with an extended family. There will be loads of sport with the Triple M Footy call, the music that our listeners know and love plus lots of national and international prizes!”
The station will retain current breakfast hosts Nik and Jac, while their music playlist is set to move to a format playing the greatest hits from the ’70s to now.
93.1 SEA FM will become 93.1 Triple M from Monday February 26.
What a shame.
How on Earth does destroying a local brand, built up over time, add any real value to the towns and communities.
Fantastic news. All radio playlists here are terrible, bring on Triple M.
Better switch to Hitz 93.1 if you’re into today’s hits. In fact, in the last survey conducted, Hitz 93.1 was far more popular for high school kids than Sea FM.
Yeah… And I was just getting into Hughesy and Kate :/ SCA you lost me
Viet – it’s actually Hitz93.9 not 93.1 – if you’re going to make a gag get it right!
We had the Sea and Hitz playing the same music, now we will have 2 different music formats…good stuff.
