Sarah Harris: “I wasn’t prepared for how much I’d love working in radio”
Radio has turned out to be a joyous surprise for Sarah Harris.
In an interview with her former Studio 10 TV co-host Joe Hilderbrand for the Herald Sun (subscription required) Harris – now reading news on Nova Sydney’s Ricki-Lee & Tim Breakfast show – admits “I actually wasn’t prepared for how much I would love working in radio.”
“It’s really fun and just to be in a newsroom again, and to not have to focus on how you look, and to just get things to air, and work with a really great bunch of girls who all help each other out.”
“Look, it’s … it’s unreal.”
Quizzed about rumours of a possible co-hosting role on Nine’s Today Show – and asked if she’d do it for a Karl Stefanovic-sized salary – the mum-of-two makes it clear she’s quite happy right where she is: in radio.
“I reckon, 10 years ago, my answer would have been different, but I can honestly, hand on heart, say that I’ve never been happier.
“I have just hit the perfect balance with my life.”
Sarah might not enjoy it so much when the ratings come out
During the first survey period of 2026 (the brekky/drive show changes took place halfway through), Nova 96.9 scored an 0.5% increase at brekky.
Keeping in mind that Nova’s rejigged lineup was on-air for the entire Survey #2 reporting period + there being a fairly major advertising push on Channel Nine for Fitzy & Wippa with Kate at Drive during March (not to mention the K&JO implosion), I reckon we’ll likely see a decent enough performance for 96.9 when Survey #2 numbers come out in a couple of weeks.
Now realistically, I’m not expecting Nova 96.9 to be the #1 FM station at brekky (that you’d think, should be Smooth 95.3 in coming surveys!) but probably still remaining ahead of Christian O’Connell.
