Sam Mac talks radio and relationships on #YGSS

Staff Writer

This week on You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere (#YGSS), Rachel Corbett chats to Sunrise weather presenter and radio host, Sam Mac.

Sam’s career started after winning a competition to cover the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for SAFM’s breakfast show and once he got a foot in the door of the industry he was determined to stay.

Since then he’s hosted radio shows across the country for SCA and NOVA and has worked as a presenter for TV programs including The Project, Wake Up and Best Bits. Sam is currently putting his complete lack of meteorological knowledge to good use as the weather presenter for Channel 7’s Sunrise.

In this episode Sam talks about how a room full of middle-aged women helped get him his first job in radio, why people always ask him for relationship advice even though he’s single and lives with two cats and how saying no to a job, no matter how much a CD tries to convince you you’ll never get another one, is sometimes the right thing to do.

You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere is a podcast that goes behind the scenes of show business to prove there’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Each week Rachel chats with well-known media personalities about how they got into the business, how they’ve managed to stay there and what it takes to build a successful career. Click here to subscribe to the podcast.

Really great podcast. Rachel is so likeable, never met her but she sounds like such great quality. Sam Mac – love your work too. You’re so funny and quirky! A showbizz podcast (Game Changers or YGSS) interview Kyle or Jackie O. Would be interesting!

I love Sam, I’d love to hear him on a drive show in the future. And what a great podcast too!
