Rohan Lund: Longtime Triple M listener, first-time SCA boss
As a self-confessed, lifelong Triple M listener, Rohan Lund’s appointment as Managing Director and CEO of SCA was a serendipitous one.
Yesterday, the former NRMA boss was in his element, working from SCA’s Sydney headquarters, chatting with the Triple M Breakfast team of Beau, Cat & Woodsy.
“What struck me was how seamlessly our radio announcers understand and connect with audiences in real time,” Lund observed on LinkedIn.
“It is such a gift knowing exactly what listeners need in the moment, whether it’s leaning into a serious conversation that matters, or being completely spontaneous and irreverent bringing a much needed laugh.”
“That is the real power of being live.”
Heading up a newly-merged media entity combining SCA’S Triple M and Hit radio networks – plus its LiSTNR platform – with the Seven Network and West Australian Newspapers, Lund knows he has his work cut out.
He’s the first to admit transformation isn’t easy.
In his previous CEO role at NRMA, Lund says he learnt mostly from those he was meant to be leading.
The biggest lesson? Culture is everything.
As the SCA merger continues to take shape – rolling out across radio, digital, TV and publishing – Lund is drawing on the media experience gleaned from his previous senior roles at Foxtel, Seven and Yahoo!7.
Whether it be volatile and crazy or thrilling and joyous, Lund says one thing’s for sure: media is certainly never dull.
Imagine being an announcer and the CEO turns up to the studio for a photo op.
