Rod Brice: “Regional radio markets are doing some of the best work I’ve ever seen”
Radio programmers are kicking goals in Australia, particularly in regional markets.
That’s according to 92.7 Mix FM’s Rod Brice, winner of the 2023 ACRA for Best Program Director: Provincial.
Planning. Scheduling. Determining what content goes to air. It’s an all-consuming job.
Speaking with our sister publication RadioInfo after picking up the ACRA, Brice – with more than 30 years’ industry experience to his name – discussed how things have changed for Program Directors over the years.
“I think fundamentally they have changed a substantial amount in the way you deliver things. But the content remains the premium product.”
“I think that’s why radio is so successful here in Australia at the moment, because the calibre of the content is so high and the community attachment is so high as well, particularly in regional markets.”
“I think regional markets are doing some of the best work that I’ve ever seen.”
Thing is, not much talent coming through any more cause theres no live shifts, when you have rookies going straight into a brekky show you know the industry is in trouble
“the calibre of the content is so high”. Really? Yes, it’s easy to be negative but this statement is so far from the truth.
