RNZ boss calls for global news service

Staff Writer

Radio New Zealand's CEO Paul Thompson has used his speech at the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association conference in Glasgow to call for the world's public broadcasters to join forces in providing a global digital news and information service.

Thompson said the international news service he envisaged would give public service broadcasters "a global reach, comprehensive coverage of breaking news and a global perspective on key issues."

During his speech he also played this video featuring RNZ journalist Peter Fowler on the multimedia challenges he faces these days.
