Ratings survey 2 results

It’s survey day. The second set of survey results for the year have been released.

The survey release date was moved from the original Tuesday earlier this week to today, as part of the recalibration of release dates for this year, which will see the last survey of this year released in early 2026.

The spotlight in today’s results continues to fall on the Melbourne breakfast timeslot.Kyle Sandilands threatened to pull out of the Melbourne market if the ratings don’t improve, that won’t happen just yet, KIIS Melbourne gained 0.6 to score 5.7%, but still well below the rest of the main FM pack. The KIIS breakfast show gained 0.7% in that timeslot.

Across the nation summer holidays finished and radio listeners went back to school and work during this survey, so it will reflect a normal metro workday pattern

The survey dates are Sun Feb 9 to Sat Mar 1 & Sun Mar 9 to Sat Apr 12, 2025.

2Day FM increasing the 55-64 up 1.4 to 3.9 – Boomers AF.

Contribute something better to this community than that @Nicole.

You’re speaking to people, likely your colleagues, who deserve more than that lame take.

Working in this industry we love is hard enough without someone always trying to pull someone down.

That 55+ demo seem to love Kiis Melbourne enough to give them a massive (apparently) rise and make K&J now only almost last in the Melbourne marketplace.

Pity about the 0-54 year olds.

Seems well worth whatever they spent on marketing, on air promotions and the massive job cuts to me.

Does the 0.7% increase give the Robin, Kip & Corey, Kiis Brissy team some job security?

It’s obvious to me that KIIS 101.1’s ratings increase is one of those fluky abnormalities that will be corrected next survey.

Meanwhile, in Sydney, it was almost inevitable that 2GB’s ratings would go up significantly, given the current/recent news cycle and the station’s heavy external promotion during the Survey #2 reporting period. By contrast, 702 ABC Radio Sydney would have to be worried about their ratings going down.

Given that Ugly Phil was on weekdays for the entirety of Survey #1, it can be reasonably presumed that 101.7’s ratings growth between 9am and midday most likely happened between March 10 and April 11, when “fill-in” Rob Duckworth held the timeslot. But now we’ve got a networked and particularly overbearing Dave “Higgo” Higgins between 9 am. and midday, we can probably expect 101.7’s morning ratings to go down soon!

As brekky was the only timeslot on 2UE to experience a share decline (even if only by 0.1%!) it’s clear they need a locally based presenter first thing in the morning. ACE opting to bring Gavin Miller & Jon Vertigan up from interstate for the station’s recent Seniors Day OB at the Royal Easter Show, but not “station flagship” presenter Cathy Jubb, makes me wonder about the long-term plans for Sydney’s Classic Hits Breakfast program.

As for 2DayFM: Surely, it’s a matter of when, not if Nic and Loren take over from Jimmy & Nath with Emma at brekky? However, it’s just about gotten to the stage where a complete rebrand (including the logo and station name) is needed if SCA is to get 104.1 Sydney out of the ratings rut it’s been stuck in for over a decade!

@simon

Robin, Kip and Corey Oates are still hovering 4th in Brisbane with little to no chemistry on air. I hope not! The 0.7 increase is just a level out of B105 & MMM dominance in the past. Bring us K&J! Brisbane without a doubt should have been first for the national network rollout. Their show would rival Nova!
