RadioWest jock goes live for 55 hours

Staff Writer

The Southern Cross Austereo 'Give Me 5 for Kids' campaign is nearly over, however there are still a few events to occur.

Every year RadioWest in WA raise money to assist familes with the cost of travelling to Perth for treatment for children who may need emergency care.

Breakfast Announcer 'Frenchy' tomorrow will begin a marathon broadcast, he will be on the air for 55 hours straight to raise funds for the campaign.

The financial goal of the 55 hours is $30,000. Frenchy commented;

“It’s been a while since I’ve pulled an all-nighter, never mind 55 hours!

Last year when I did this it was about 2.30am and the phones, emails and Facebook had stopped because everyone had gone to bed, I started to feel a bit sorry for myself then I started to think about the kids that live with illness, those kids who are lying awake thinking about why they are sick and for the parents who sit up for hours to watch over their children is what drives me for this important cause”

RadioWest will be asking listeners to donate to the cause through requests, sponsoring hours or donating online.

Good luck!
