Radio comes alive in Melbourne this weekend

Staff Writer

The Who’s Who of Australian radio is gathering in Melbourne this weekend for Commercial Radio Australia’s Radio Alive 2017.

The event is being staged at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, kicking off with the annual conference tomorrow.

Each year, CRA brings together industry leaders to discuss the latest innovations, developments and trends in radio and the media as a whole.

After a breakfast networking session, the conference will be opened by Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner.

Rob Atkinson, ARN chief executive and chair of CRA’s Industry Brand and Marketing committee, will then provide an overview of and background to the new Radio Alive campaign.

Communications Minister Mitch Fifield and Shadow Minister Michelle Rowland are part of the Q&A discussion panel to be hosted by ABC news breakfast presenter Virginia Trioli.

Over the course of the day, there will be panel sessions covering topics such as Powerhouse Women in Media, Measurement Innovation (GfK), the New World of Audio and The Rise and Rise of Podcasting.

Then, the industry lets its hair down on Saturday night with the presentation of the ACRAs at a gala event. See the list of nominees here.

And Radio Today will be on hand at “Jeff’s Shed” for the conference, Red Carpet shenanigans and will be speaking to the winners as they emerge.
