triple j Drive producer Ed Kirkwood has made the switch to commercial radio, taking up a new role at 2DayFM.

Telum Media reports Ed will work as a content producer on the Grant, Ed & Ash Breakfast show on Sydney’s 2DayFM.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to work at triple j, with such awesome and talented people, a lot of whom will be friends for life,” he told Radio Today.

“They’ve given me some amazing opportunities and I can’t thank them enough. Giving away cold hard cash instead of triple j prize packs will feel a little odd, but I’m really looking forward to being a part of the 2DayFM family and the Grant, Ed and Ash Breakfast show.

“I’m genuinely such a fan of their show and I can’t wait to get stuck in and smash those 4am alarms.”

Ed had been a producer on the Veronica & Lewis Drive show with the national broadcaster since 2017.

An AFTRS graduate who started his career at FBi Radio, Ed has also held production roles at ABC Canberra and ABC Sydney.

Ed’s new role with 2Day begins on April 29.

Heads up future colleagues of Ed, he likes to go by the nickname Woody due to his likeness to the Toy Story character, as well as his love of dick jokes
