Prince: Your Tributes

With the untimely passing of Prince – we have done a quick whip around the country on how you have paid tribute. We start in Melbourne with Gold104.3

This morning in Melbourne Gold 104.3’s Jo Stanley was brought to tears on air following the news of Prince’s death. All day today ARN stations across the country will be paying tribute to Prince with music and interviews, with WSFM 101.7 and GOLD104.3 also changing the plectrum in their logo to purple to honour the star.

In Melbourne, GOLD104.3 featured a Pop-Up Countdown at 10am with songs Prince has written for other artists, will be playing Prince songs every hour and featuring interviews with Glenn A Baker, Journalist Tim Nelson from Paisley Park Studios in the US and Gavin Miller. All leading up to GOLD104.3’s Tribute To Prince from 5 – 6pm with Gavin Miller featuring interviews, tributes, music, celeb tweets, listener reaction and digging into GOLD104.3’s archive of Prince interviews

In Sydney, WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda took calls from listeners who shared their Prince stories and also featured tributes with music and interviews which will continue to be played across the day as well as playing interview with stars Prince wrote songs for including Martika, The Bangles, and Sinead O’Connor.

Over on KIIS 1065, the station featured a ‘KIIStory’ of Prince looking at his life and musical achievements and the Stafford Brothers will do an exclusive mash up of Prince’s hits at 2pm.

In celebration of Prince’s life and music, Double J will be playing nothing but Prince all weekend. Back to back Prince from his entire career. It’s happening right now and has been going since 9am today.

On Saturday night Sky High pays tribute to The Purple One. Join Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos) from 6pm for the ultimate Prince party playlist. He’ll also be playing a taste of this set on triple j today from 2.20pm.

On Sunday morning at 10am Caz Tran goes deep on her Classic Albums show, where she’ll be playing Prince’s 1987 magnum opus, Sign O’ The Times, from start to finish.
