Job Description

We are looking for a journalist to join the Nine Radio Sydney newsroom. You will research, write, edit and present news bulletins.

  • Edit and present accurate, informative and interesting news bulletins.
  • Present live, timed-out bulletins as well as recorded bulletins.
  • Generate ideas for stories, and follow leads from contacts, politicians, the public, media conferences and other sources.
  • Research and write radio news stories.
  • Conduct interviews with a variety of newsmakers.
  • Exercise editorial judgement on the best angle from which to approach a story.
  • Meet hourly and half-hourly deadlines.
  • Understand and comply with media law and industry codes of conduct and regulations, as well as complete necessary training and accreditation.
  • Take direction from the Sydney News Director as well as shift editors.


  • Proven experience editing and presenting radio news bulletins.
  • Experience in journalism and expertise in news gathering, writing and presenting for radio.
  • Able to meet hourly and half-hourly deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to deal effectively with simultaneous tasks.
  • Knowledge of local, national and international issues, newsmakers and organisations
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • On-line research, word processing, audio editing and social media skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently, and to take feedback and direction.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class C – car).
  • A degree qualified in journalism is desirable.
