PM chats petrol prices and GST with Clairsy, Matt & Kymba

Staff Writer

Australia’s new Prime Minister Scott Morrison joined Mix94.5 Breakfast this morning and declared a new war on rising petrol prices.

Speaking with Clairsy, Matt and Kymba on The Big Breakfast, the PM said he’s given the ACCC the power to investigate soaring petrol prices across the country, which have averaged over $1.60 in recent times.

“I gave them powers when I was Treasurer so they could look back behind the pump and see what’s going on back at head office,” he said.

“That’s Rob Simm’s job. He’s the cop on the beat, and I’ll be expecting him to do that job.”

Turnbull also outlined his plan to address WA’s share of the GST.
