Power FM Ballarat’s Alex & Krystal smash fundraising target for World’s Greatest Shave

Power FM Ballarat’s Alex Newman is rocking a shiny new look – having done away with his crowning glory, and all for a good cause.

This morning – with his Breakfast co-host Krystal Roker brandishing the clippers – Alex said goodbye to his all his locks.

It was all part of World’s Greatest Shave, to help raise money for life-changing blood cancer support and research.

Alex and Krystal’s initial fundraising goal was $1,500.

They’ve already smashed that, though. In fact, they’ve more than doubled it … with the current tally sitting at around $3,100.

Krystal said “The campaign started as our Shave-o-Metre. Each amount we raise was a different thing Alex would do: he coloured his beard, then shaved it off, got a mullet, then did the full shave!”

For her part, Krystal added a splash of colour to her hair.

“But that’s really nothing compared to Alex’s feat!” she said.

Now that Alex and Krystal have surpassed their original target, they’re taking things up a notch – and now plan to submerge themselves in an ice bath.

Oh, and if they reach $4,000, Alex has agreed to get a tattoo!
