Politics front and centre as Sussan Ley appears on Kyle & Jackie O Show

Politics took centre stage on the Kyle & Jackie O Show this morning, with Opposition Leader Sussan Ley joining Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson in the KIIS studio to discuss everything from the Liberal Party getting smashed at the polls to Australia’s relationship with Donald Trump.

Asked by Jackie how it felt to take over the Liberal leadership, Ley said “I like the fact that being the first female leader of the Liberal party sends a signal to women that we care deeply about what they think, and many of them didn’t vote for us at the last election. I’m being very upfront about that. Many Australians didn’t support us. Actually, we were smashed.”

Of our PM’s relationship with US President Donald Trump, Ley said “Anthony Albanese does have to build a strong relationship with President Trump, and he hasn’t done that.”

To which Kyle asked “Is Kevin Rudd the right person – who has mocked Trump before – is he the right person to be the Ambassador to America?”

She replied “Some say he is, some say he isn’t. I’m sure he’s working very hard, but this really a leader-to-leader issue.”
