Phil Brady and…..
With Bruce Mansfield taking a break, Phil Brady of 3AW’s Nightline had some pretty big shoes to fill in finding a co-host for the show each night. So during August they came with the idea of a bringing in a different guest each night. Since the start of the month, 3AW’s Nightline has seen 12 cameo guest presenters joining Phil with their identity kept secret until they went to air.
The first guest hasn’t been On-Air at 3AW in 45 years but nights was a familiar timeslot. From 1967 until 1970, long before Bruce and Phil hosted Nightline, it was the The Ray Lawrence Show. Ray joined Phil for a trip down memory lane.
The following night , Ant Simpson who did drive on ARN as Ant & Becks joined the 3AW line-up.
Next it was Tracy Bartram, followed by radio veteran John Deeks. Week two saw Herald Sun showbiz reporter Luke Dennehy join the show, then Manni Pless-Bennett. They then flashed back to the 80’s with pop star with Brian Mannix, front man for the Uncanny X-Men and then Wilbur Wilde.
In the final week, it was Nick Le Soueff and Rockwiz Co-host Brian Nankervis. And finally 3AW legend Rex Hunt with the final night, Stefan Dennis. He plays Paul Robinson from Neighbours.
“We decided to surprise and delight our Nightline audience with a surprise guest presenter on every show and kept a secret until each personality was revealed on air by our own entertainment legend Phil Brady. It was a great way to showcase our commitment to innovation by our Nightline team, especially our very own station historian Simon Owens,” said 3AW Operations Director Stephen Beers.
The Nightline program can be heard on 3AW from 8.00pm until 12.00am.
