Pauline Hanson surprises Intern Pete on his last day at KIIS

Reporter

There were surprises aplenty this morning for Pete Deppeler – aka Intern Pete – as he wrapped up his final day on Breakfast at the KIIS Network.

A special video compilation of Pete’s most memorable radio moments was made to celebrate his 13 years on KIIS.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson even dropped by to wish Pete well, before he switches over to ARN’s GOLD Network, to take up a new gig on The Christian O’Connell Show from next week.

Guest KIIS Breakfast co-host Bianca Dye paid tribute to Pete on Instagram, saying “Thank you for being so kind warm fun funny fabulous and welcoming and beautiful for my week with you all. Chookas for Monday.”

Well Melbourne will be “happy” to have someone from Kyle in theirs favourite breakfast show… If he will bring bad habits and attitude from Kyle and Jackie O show =ratings drop in Melbourne in 2 surveys time?!

@Hkn: The Christian O’Connell Show probably *needs* a Sydney-based contributor. However, I strongly doubt the not insignificant chunk of listeners who’ve switched off Gold 101.7 since Jonesy & Amanda got bumped to Drive would be particularly endeared by a personality previously associated with Kyle & Jackie O. The bloke whose most infamous stunt was gatecrashing the Steve Smith press conference on 29/3/2018, no less!

Would Pete have been their first choice as a Sydney-based contributor to COC though? From this distance I can only guess, but you’d think ARN would’ve tried to approach J&A-aligned people like Jenna Benson, Megan Smith and Ryan Atkins with offers I reckon they most likely would’ve politely declined!

The stock market is clearly impressed by these genius moves by senior management – down 11% on Friday – more top heavy costs at the expense of ratings and revenue
