On-air rarity: Dannii mixes it up as DJ Delicious at Townsville’s Star 106.3

It’s not uncommon for radio hosts to have a side hustle as a DJ – on-air by day, turning the decks by night.

To do both, on air, every day – at a commercial radio station – is somewhat unique.

Enter Danielle McMurrich, Mornings host at Townsville’s Star 106.3.

Each day, Dannii gets to live out her DJ persona.

Come midday, after wrapping up the Morning shift, Dannii’s versatility comes to the fore, as her alter-ego DJ Delicious takes over the studio, mixing up a DJ set live on air.

In February this year, Star 106.3, along with Power 100 – its ARN sister station in Townsville – did some shuffling of the deckchairs, with both stations getting new breakfast shows and on-air line-ups more reflective of their target audiences.

The revamp saw Dannii move from Star Breakfast to Mornings, with a live DJ set at lunchtime.

And it’s turned out to be a dream fit for the RNB and hip hop DJ, who’s already featured on several CD compilations with music giant Sony.
