A New Zealand journalist was killed in a boat collision in the Seychelles over the weekend.

Rebecca Davidson worked for NZ Herald and TVNZ then moved to the UK to take up a marketing role on Top Gear before moving to Dubai to work for the Arabian Radio Network (ARN).

The tragedy occured days after she was promoted to co-host drive on Dubai Eye 103.8.

ARN chief executive Steve Smith said:

"She was wonderful. Her career and personal life were just blossoming"

Her boss at TVNZ, director of coverage Claire Watson, said:

"She was hard-working and talented, but most of all she was just very, very funny and that will be my enduring memory"
