Nova launches new websites
DMG have launched new websites today for the Nova network, and given a slight facelift to the 95.3 and 91.5 websites. The Nova sites look very good: sharp, contemporary and clean. They are now heavily reliant on images.
Strangely, the sites also cross-pollinate the various Nova stations lineups and playlists.
Presumably for some reason listeners in Sydney have a compelling need to know who the announcer is on in Adelaide at the same point in time – as shown in the screen shot below.
And it is obviously very important for Nova Melbourne listeners to see the playlist for Nova Perth and so on. Each Nova site lists the playlist for every Nova station around the country. See below.
There is no doubt that the new design and look is very good, and it should be noted that these are simply two small examples of a lack of localism. Outside of that, the new sites look terrific.
As radio becomes more and more challenged by the sheer volume of choice that listeners have for entertainment, it is worth us keeping in mind that being overtly and proudly local is an attribute worth protecting as much as possible. This isn't to suggest networking content and shows is a bad thing, but rather, those elements where we can connect to our local community, should be protected.
