Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren officially becomes the Jase, Lauren & Clint Breakfast Show
After much debate – and some good-natured ribbing – it’s finally happened. Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren has officially become the Jase, Lauren & Clint Breakfast show, with long-time co-host and newsreader Clint Stanaway now formally recognised in the show’s name.
Jase, Lauren & Clint officially launched on air this morning.
Whilst Stanaway has long been a familiar presence on the show alongside co-hosts Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips, NOVA Entertainment says this change reflects the significant role he plays on Nova 100 Breakfast.
In November last year, the issue was broached live on air, when Stanaway’s former Channel Nine colleague Tony Jones jokingly referred to Stanaway asking him “Tone, do you reckon they’ll ever put my name on this Breakfast show?”
This prompted Phillips to comment “It’s a bloody good question!”
Then in February this year, Radio Today reported that listeners were considering launching a petition to get Stanaway’s name included in the show’s title.
Stanaway says being acknowledged in this way means a lot to him: “It’s both incredibly humbling and a really proud moment for me. Jase and Lauren have been so supportive throughout my career, and I’m genuinely grateful to them, to Nova and to the listeners who’ve backed me every step of the way.”
Phillips says “Our show has always been built on the friendship between the three of us, so this change makes perfect sense. It’s been a long time coming and this is a really special and proud moment for our show.”
Hawkins jokes that the update has a practical element to it as well: “Saying ‘Clint’s here too’ multiple times a morning really chews up airtime, so the name change just makes sense.”
“Jokes aside, I couldn’t imagine this show without Clint. We’ve become great mates over the years, and I’m so proud of him. His contribution takes our show to a whole other level, and he absolutely deserves this recognition.”
Nova Network’s Group Programming Director Brendan Taylor says “Jase, Lauren and Clint have become one of Nova’s strongest and most consistent breakfast teams in the country. Clint’s inclusion in the show name recognises his impact, his connection with the audience and the role he plays in the ongoing success of Nova 100’s Breakfast show.”
An experienced sports and news journalist, Stanaway has built a solid media career across television and radio, including previous roles with Nine News and as host of Weekend Today.
Jase, Lauren & Clint airs weekdays on Nova 100 in Melbourne from 6am to 9am and nationally on weekends from 8am to 10am. Listeners can also stream the show live or catch up via the Nova Player.
Jase was joking, but he’s right. Every mic break, “Jase & Lauren, and Clint joins us from the newsroom.” it was getting tedious.
