NewFM’s Jade is hula hooping for bushfire-affected koalas

In the wake of destructive bushfires across NSW, Breakfast announcer Jade from The NOVOS on NewFM will be undertaking a feat of great resilience for a good cause.

After The NOVOS visited the Port Stephens Koala hospital, filled with victims of their habitat being destroyed, the team became determined to raise some money for animals.

Jade is going to hula hoop for 105 minutes non-stop to raise awareness and a minimum of $1,000 to help with the ongoing care of dispossessed and sick koalas.

The hooping will be aired live on the NEWFM Facebook page.

At the time of writing, almost half the goal amount had already been donated at the official GoFundMe page for the event.

The page lists what donations could add up to, including the following;

  • A donation of $50 could purchase essential cooling and non-painful Flamazine ointment used to prevent infection in severe burns.
  • A donation of $200 could purchase an IV drip stand used in administering vital fluids for rehydration.
  • A donation of $2000 could purchase a triage cot used for housing ill or injured koalas during intensive
    care.

Jade’s hoola hooping challenge will take place on Tuesday, December 10.
