New year, new TV role for Abbey Smith: “Here’s to the next chapter”

Reporter

Just a few short months ago, Abbey Smith’s world was turned upside down as she navigated her first radio redundancy.

NOVA Entertainment had made changes to its News and Programming structure and Abbey – Nova Adelaide’s Breakfast newsreader – was one of the casualties, along with Smooth FM’s Steve Blanda and Nikole Gunn.

Fast forward to today, and Abbey has begun a new job as a reporter and digital content creator at Channel 10 Adelaide.

Abbey tells Radio Today “I am so excited to be starting a new chapter and jumping on board with the 10 News First Adelaide team.”

“They have all been so welcoming in my first few weeks and eased the nerves I’ve had. I can’t wait to start sharing the stories that matter most in my hometown.”

2025 is already shaping up to be a busy year for Abbey, who’ll continue to run her live video guestbook business called Time for Chats, interviewing clients and guests at different events.

She’ll also be popping up on radio, doing casual news shifts.
