New survey standard for regional radio

Staff Writer

Commercial Radio Australia has announced a new survey standard for regional radio surveys which will is designed to result in more regular surveys in many markets.

CRA has asked for submissions from research companies to apply to be included on an approved panel of suppliers to conduct surveys in the smaller markets.

Under the new system, regional radio stations can commission an approved ratings survey in conjunction with other commercial and public broadcasters in their licence area.

There has traditionally been limited regional surveys, excluding Newcastle, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Wollongong due primarily to the costs of running the surveys.

At this years National Radio Conference, CRA will have the new methodology presented by Paul Amos (Xtra), John Musgrove (SCA) and David Rogerson (Grant Broadcasters).
