New local Triple M drive show

Queensland has a new voice – well two actually.

From March 7 Elliott Lovejoy and Annabelle ‘AB’ Brett will host The Rush Hour, a brand-new drive show on Triple M for the state, coming from deep in the heart of maroon territory, North Queensland.

“The Rush Hour with AB & Elliott will celebrate everything local and Queensland, with real music, sport, and comedy at its heart. Up to date with insights and insider knowledge along with laughs and yarns that will make listeners’ cheeks hurt, this new drive show will unite regional Queensland communities and celebrate our local heroes,” said Blair Woodcock, SCA Head of Content – Regional.

“Elliott and AB are laid back, they love their sport, they have worked all around the world, they now live in regional Queensland and they’re about as local as you can get. Pairing these two up in their home state is going to be great.

“In an epic tale that goes back two generations, Elliott and AB are destined to work together. Elliott’s grandfather and AB’s grandmother worked together at Radio 4BH in Brisbane, one of the first stations for the capital.”

Elliott Lovejoy has worked throughout Canada, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai doing breakfast radio before settling in Cairns on-air as Triple M’s Breakfast Show host, while Annabelle ‘AB’ Brett is a multitalented content creator, has worked all over the map including breakfast radio in Coffs Harbour, drive radio in Canberra and more recently shone as an anchor and producer with the hit show, Those Two Girls on LiSTNR.

Elliott said he was looking forward to turning off his alarms. “Chances are SCA called the wrong Elliott about this gig but I’m not going to call them on the mistake, it’s an unbelievable opportunity across a wonderful part of Australia.

“After 10 years in breakfast, I’m looking forward to turning off the alarms and driving regional Queensland home,” he said. “AB has an unmatched work ethic and a desire to create, create, create, and I’m also hoping she allows me to test drive her Tesla at some point.”

AB said as a born and bred Queenslander and footy fanatic, it was a dream to be broadcasting to the heartland of the state. The Rush Hour with AB & Elliott on Triple M will air across Queensland to Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Maryborough, and Fraser Coast, and Toowoomba from 4pm to 6pm Monday to Friday.

AB is a perfect hire for MMM. Understands the brand now, but will be key for the brand in the future too.

To see AB getting an opportunity like this is so amazing. She is one of the hardest workers in the industry.

SCA scored big time with this, absolute home run.

Proof that hard work, tenacity and passion pays off. What an awesome pairing with AB and Elliott, both exceptionally talented broadcasters in their own right and now brought together… I imagine we’re going to be hearing a lot from these guys up north. A massive congratulations to their producer Xander as well.

I am so excited to catch up on LiSTNR (gotta listen to my own local Rush Hour in Melbourne of course). You’ll nail it.

More lazy cut n paste journalism.

Seems SCA is using the Grants “live and local” philosophy full of BS. We gone back to treating the audience like idiots and the mentality of “if we tell them enough they’ll believe us”.

A show from Cairns that broadcasts into any other market is not local. Cairns yes. Anywhere else it’s a network show.

For those who still need some help here is a cut n paste from the dictionary. Local – relating or restricted to a particular area or one’s neighbourhood.

So stop the hood wink. It’s NOT local.

On a positive note, this show will probably be better than the “local” Brisbane show that broadcasts into the Gold Coast. Elliott is a superstar and deserves the bigger exposure across more stations. Can’t wait to hear it.

@hood winker I’m actually going to be in Townsville, so we are in multiple, local markets 😉

Thank god these roles were given to two passionate radio presenters who have done the hard yards, are extremely deserving and also talented. Huge get for MMM!
