New Gawk Outdoor role for former ARN executive Peter Upton

Reporter

Gawk Outdoor, a leading OOH advertising provider in regional Victoria, has appointed radio veteran Peter Upton as its first General Manager.

Peter – a former ARN executive – has 40 years of experience within the radio industry, starting as an announcer in 1982 and moving into General Manager roles in the late 90s.

As well as running radio stations, he’s also taken charge of regional television and overseen a tourism magazine and a digital billboard.

Peter started in his long-term Regional General Manager (RGM) role at Grant Broadcasters in 2009, assisting with the growth of their stations across Victoria and South Australia.

For more than 12 years, Peter oversaw several markets including Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Mildura, Murray Bridge, Spencer Gulf, The Riverland and Port Lincoln.

Peter’s position became redundant at ARN after its purchase of the majority of the Grant Broadcasters’ network.

Peter started his new role at Gawk Outdoor this week and says “I am stoked to be part of this committed, rapidly growing team helping clients get great results.”

Director Luke Course says “We could not be more excited about having someone the calibre of Pete join our team. His experience in media in regional Victoria is almost unparalleled and shows our commitment to being one of the major players in regional Victorian Media.”

Gawk Outdoor holds over 80 billboard locations throughout regional Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales, including 9 digital locations in prominent town centres within Victoria.

Congratulations Pete, they’re lucky to have you. A great bloke, and a very good operator. I knew when you left us there were good signs ahead…
