New Aussie music show coming

Staff Writer

Mix 94.5 Perth now have an Aussie music show that airs on Sunday nights from 6pm – 8pm.

The Scene will be hosted by Blake Williams (on the left), a local musician himself as lead singer of Proof.

Not only will the show feature the diverse and strong local WA scene but will also play music from around the country.

“Every week I’ll have a local Perth band or artist in the studio, but for more than just a chat. The show will feature at least one local act every week and give them some love because it’s so difficult for Perth artists to get airplay on commercial radio.

“Each feature artist, signed or unsigned, will have a couple of their tracks played and I’ll have some fun with them in the studio, too.”

This Sunday The Scene kicks off with guest Bob Evans (Kevin Mitchell) who is no stranger to Perth radio having had his own local music show on Nova 937 in 2003 with fellow Jebediah band member Chris Daymond.

Another band, Rainy Day Women, will also be on the show and will be the first to play Williams’ Song Challenge. They will pick a random song from a barrel and then have 10 minutes to prepare a cover version.

Williams says:

“It’s all one big community and there are some incredibly talented Australian artists that just need a hand."

“Mix 94.5 is a fantastic platform to showcase great music with a local flavour, without being too serious.”
